St John the Baptist’s cave
St John the Baptist’s cave is a special archaeological site. In the cave we find a huge water system from the Judean Kings period that became a special baptismal place in the first century C.E. and is attributed to St John the Baptist. On the wall one can still see an effigy of St John the Baptist dating from the Byzantine period.
The tour lasts about an hour. Participants drive their own car to the site at a distance of two kilometers and then walk some 300 meters.
The tour is adapted to adults or families with grown up children.
